lyrics
And I find in your face, a most unfamiliar maze
I gaze at the sky as the colour bleeds out of space
In this moment of grief I light myself ablaze
I walk with the dark
and the darkness walks with me
I call forth a spirit from the wretched deep
In your image, a fading memory
Forward into darkness and darkness into me
Falling forever, through a hole torn in your dreams
Cast yourself screaming, into a bottomless pit
Void, hear me now as I stand on your precipice
Loud and clear as I commit myself to you
Falling forever, through a hole torn in your dreams
Cast yourself screaming into a bottomless pit
Trapped in your maze, a most unfamiliar place
I gaze at the walls as light beings to fade
A moment of darkness that we will come to embrace
Man will fall
Falling forever, through a hole torn in your dreams
Cast yourself screaming, into a bottomless pit
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

How to find the right words to praise this work of genius? I already loved their previous album deeply - and still do. But this is seriously next level stuff. It's more refined, sophisticated and so well crafted and elaborated that you can only drop your jaw and drool. Unbelievably good and should be known to each and every metalhead out there. I'm not one to talk about AOTY but this is a candidate to appear in those lists if I ever heard one. Masterpiece 🖤 Go, spread the word 🤘 mourner
Late 90's BM worship, but it's also a lil more than that. This album takes the best elements from the scene it's inspired by and mostly avoids the worst of it; the song-writing is well-written, it's performed with passion and fun, and the production is raw but isn't lo-fi. (i.e. it doesn't obfuscate and/or suckass).
Tl;dr It's safe but high quality BM. Recommended. Rabbit
